This video is a recording from a presentation given to the Coast to Coast prostate cancer support group. Bibiana is a Masters student in UBC’s reproductive and developmental sciences program. She is currently completing her master’s research at UBC’s Sexual Health Research Lab supervised by Dr. Lori Brotto. She is involved in the INTROSPPECT study, which examines the use of mindfulness meditation and cognitive behavioural therapy interventions for prostate cancer survivors and their partners who are experiencing sexual dysfunction. She has also created education materials on these therapies in collaboration with Vancouver’s Prostate Cancer Supportive Care Program. She has worked in cancer care for over 20 years. She currently works with the Palliative Care Consult Team at Foothills Medical Centre and is also working on her PhD in Nursing through the University of Victoria. The focus of her research is on the integration of palliative care in oncology. Some of her clinical and research interests include: symptom management, sexual health and cancer, the integration of palliative care in oncology, and medical cannabis in cancer care.
